This Lighthouse in Newport Oregon is the second of two that were built in the city. As nice as the first one looked it wasn’t accessible enough for the ships to see. Another lighthouse needed to be built in order for it to be used properly to guide and warn the ships that sailed the sea. The purpose of the lighthouse is to keep a light constantly flashing in the night so the boats can rely on it to know where they are and where it was safe to sail.
Jesus is our lighthouse and its up to us to position Him properly in our lives so He is accessible for us to see. It’s important that we see to it that He is out in the open. Near the coastline of our hearts where He can be the guide and light we need to see ourselves safely down the coastline of life to the shores of Heaven.
It doesn’t do a sailor any good to have a lighthouse light available to him if he doesn’t look towards it and use it accordingly. The same goes with us, we need to keep our eyes on the Light of our life, Jesus Christ. If He can’t be seen it’s not because He move it’s because of where we have positioned Him. Allowing things in life to grow up around Him dimming a light that needs to shine brightly in our lives.
