The corral located on this ranch is set up to serve a purpose. It is used to keep the cattle where they need to be. There are gates leading in and gates that lead out. Its the decision of those in charge of the cattle to pick and choose what gate needs to opened and which should be closed.
People often look at the Bible as if it was similar to the confines of a corral. The rules and commandments put together by God appears to them as if their freedom is being hindered. With only one gate to Heaven, Jesus Christ, the purposes of the commandments we are surrounded by are to keep us where we need to be. Protecting us from outside elements lurking around the corral to do us harm spiritually.
Our freedom comes in our obedience to God’s Word opening a huge gate we never could have managed ourselves, the gate to Heaven. The world’s definition of freedom is the liberty to do whatever we want whenever we want with no consequences. Good parents, government, or law enforcement agencies would never go for that then why do we think God should go for it. Instead we need to trust the One who has control of the gates that He will open and close them using His standards and time schedules to the benefit of His flock and to the glory of His kingdom.
